Dr. Gales wants to get to know you and your family. He enjoys connecting and listening to his patients before addressing their visual needs. His patient experience is vast, from examining and treating infants to persons dealing with chronic health issues such as diabetes, glaucoma or macular degeneration.

Dr. Gales received his bachelor’s degree from Fort Hays State University and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry. He performed his Ocular Disease Residency at the University of Alabama-Birmingham and then went on to serve his country in the United States Army. He enjoyed his many duty stations overseas and is a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.

As a young athlete, Dr. Gales counted on his optometrist to keep him in the game. He received his first pair of contact lenses at the age of 15. That experience sparked his interest in an optometry career and he now specializes in advanced and complicated contact lens fittings.

Outside of the examination room, Dr. Gales likes to explore Colorado with his wife and two children, and has been known to obsess over KU basketball.

Dr. Gales donates his time with various local service organizations and volunteers as a youth coach for his son and daughter. He is a member of the Southern Colorado Optometric Society, Colorado Optometric Association, the Contact Lens Section of the American Optometric Association, and has served as an adjunct professor for the University of Houston College of Optometry.
