Executive Park Eye Care Becomes a Foundation Fighting Blindness Partner for Retinal Health

Colorado Springs, Colorado (May 12, 2016) — Committed to providing resources and support to patients living with retinal degenerative diseases like macular degeneration and retinitis pigmentosa, Executive Park Eye Care in Colorado Springs has become a Foundation Fighting Blindness Partner for Retinal Health. As a national patient outreach and education initiative, the Partners for Retinal Health program involves dedicated ophthalmology and retinal specialist practices interested in offering their patients the latest information about retinal diseases, cutting-edge research, and living with low vision.

“By partnering with dedicated practices across the country, we’re striving to raise awareness about vision-robbing retinal diseases that afflict more than 10 million Americans,” says Angela Vasquez, senior director of marketing and communications for the Foundation Fighting Blindness. “Through the program, we’re educating patients about their conditions and providing the critical resources necessary to help them lead full lives, as our funded research moves the needle toward treatments and cures for these disabling eye diseases.”

As a Partner for Retinal Health, Executive Park Eye Care can better equip existing and newly diagnosed retinal disease patients with relevant information about research advancements and coping, and refer them to a local Foundation Fighting Blindness chapter that facilitates networking opportunities with others living with vision loss.

“Becoming a Foundation Fighting Blindness Partner for Retinal Health is a natural fit for our practice because we’re committed to helping our patients understand their conditions and live independently despite progressive vision loss from retinal disease,” says Dr. Jeanne Derber of Executive Park Eye Care.

About the Foundation Fighting Blindness

The Foundation Fighting Blindness is a national non-profit organization driving the research that will lead to prevention, treatment, and cures for retinitis pigmentosa, macular degeneration, Usher syndrome and the entire spectrum of retinal degenerative diseases that affect more than 10 million Americans. Since 1971, the Foundation has raised more than $500 million as the leading non-governmental funder of retinal research. Breakthrough Foundation-funded studies using gene therapy have restored significant vision in children and young adults who were previously blind, paving the way for additional clinical trials to treat a variety of retinal degenerative diseases.
